Another Great Room Reveal is here!
One of my followers said to me the other day that they love seeing all my design boards but wish that I would show more of the finished product. Well, she's in luck because that time has finally come! I have been working hard in the background to complete several projects over the last while that I'm slowly going to be revealing over the next few months. Starting here with The Williams Project, I'm going to take you through the process of converting this empty room into a gorgeous, bright, modern family dining room.
THE BEFORE
This is where it all began, an empty room that wasn't really being used for anything except maybe a dumping ground for odds and ends. These built-in cabinets had potential but needed some love and this family of 5 wanted a large dining table with ample seating to host big family gatherings or larger get-togethers with friends.
THE DESIGN PLAN
I wanted to make this room modern and stylish but it was also important to keep the vibe casual and light to ensure the whole family feels comfortable here, including their 3 young kids. I kept the palette bright with lots of whites. We painted the walls Benjamin Moore: Chantilly Lace (my fave) and accented with a pop of green throughout the space which looks gorgeous with all the brushed gold finishes. I added softness with a wool rug, velvet chairs and window draperies, and warmth from the wood touches.
THE AFTER

This room is quite narrow and long which meant that a standard size rug was simply not going to fit. I decided to have a custom wool rug specially made, which normally can take up to 4 months. In this case, however, COVID delays resulted in it taking almost 9 months! Thank goodness for my extremely patient and understanding clients. This project would have been completed back in February if it wasn't for this darn rug! At least we can all smile about it now.

I knew the shelf styling was going to set the tone for the whole room so I found an inspo. pic on Pinterest to show the overall look I wanted to achieve. I took it with me when I was shopping to have a reference point. I always do this when shopping for decor to have something to keep me on the right track.
